The landing page that converts: structure over spectacle

A landing page that works isn't the flashiest one. It's the one that answers the visitor's questions in the order they ask them.

A landing page converts when it answers the visitor's questions in the order they actually ask them: what is this, is it for me, can I trust it, and what do I do next. Spectacle grabs attention for a second; structure turns that second into an action. Clarity beats cleverness almost every time.

What questions does a visitor really have?

In order: what is this, what's in it for me, why should I believe you, and what happens if I click. A page that answers those in sequence feels effortless; one that leads with cleverness makes the visitor do the sorting, and most won't.

What belongs above the fold?

Less than you think.

  • A headline that says what it is and who it's for, in plain words.
  • One primary action, visually unmistakable.
  • A reason to believe — proof that's specific and real, never invented.
  • A clear sense of what the next step costs in time or money.

How many calls to action should there be?

One idea, repeated. The same primary action can appear more than once as the page answers more questions, but competing actions split attention and lower the odds of any of them. Decide what you want the visitor to do, then make that the easy path.

How we use it

We build landing pages around the visitor's real questions and one honest action, then refine against behaviour — because a page that converts is a page that answers.
